Laser Vein Therapy New Jersey

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

If you are experiencing problems with spider or varicose veins, then you’ll be happy to know that there are vein treatments available that can assist you in getting rid of these problematic veins. Two popular treatments for getting rid of problematic veins include sclerotherapy and laser vein therapy in New Jersey. Both treatments have shown success in eliminating both spider and varicose veins.

For sclerotherapy vein treatment, a cosmetic dermatologist will inject the sclerosing solution directly into the problem vein.  You may need more than one treatment and the entire process can take less than an hour to complete.

Laser vein therapy in New Jersey leads the pack when it comes to vein treatment.  If a person is experiencing problems with surface veins or has problem veins on the face, then laser vein therapy may be the better choice when it comes to vein treatment.

If you are experiencing problems with deeper problematic veins, your vein specialist may recommend that you have both sclerotherapy and laser vein therapy in New Jersey.  You should schedule an appointment with a vein specialist in New Jersey, he or she can assist you with determining what vein treatment would work best for you and your vein condition.  As well as letting you know how many treatments you will need.

Unfortunately, laser vein therapy is considered a cosmetic treatment and most insurance policies won’t cover the cost of treatment.  You should discuss the cost with your vein specialist prior to treatment.

Laser Therapy for Varicose & Spider Veins

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Spider veins, also known by the medical term telangiectasias, are miniature discernible vessels that appear below the surface of the skin. They can be found most frequently on the face and legs. Varicose veins are swollen veins below the surface of the skin. They can sometimes look like blue colored knots and can be quite painful. A person with unattractive varicose veins that cause pain may decide to have a vein treatment procedure to eliminate the varicose veins. Ask your vein specialist about sclerotherapy or laser therapy for varicose and spider veins. If you happen to have a combination of both varicose and spider veins, in most cases it may be necessary that the problematic varicose veins be addressed first.

In some cases, it may be necessary to have both sclerotherapy as well as laser therapy for varicose and spider veins.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is when your vein specialist injects the sclero-solution right into the problematic veins.  It is performed right in your vein doctor’s office and you will be required to wear compression stockings for up to 2 weeks following treatment.

Laser therapy for Varicose and Spider Veins

During laser therapy treatment, a laser is placed on the skin above the problematic spider veins. Laser energy forces the spider veins to congeal and dissipate. Laser therapy works best on problematic veins that aren’t too large. If the problematic vein is excessive in size, it may be better to treat the vein with sclerotherapy.

Using both sclerotherapy and laser therapy for varicose and spider veins works best on most size veins, but depending on the size, your vein specialist may recommend that you start with sclerotherapy first.

Endovenous Closure New Jersey

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Endovenous Closure in New Jersey is designed to treat varicose veins. The Endovenous Closure technique uses radiofrequency waves produced by an electrode to seal the vein.

The VNUS Closure Fast has 6.5 cm of an electrode that creates the radiofrequency waves. The end result is that almost 6.5 cm of the vein can be shut rather quickly. The VNUS closure Fast system uses an elevated heat to shut off the varicose vein. The complete saphenous vein in the thigh can differ between 20-40 cm allowing for the vein to be shut of in just minutes.

Endovenous Closure in New Jersey is an outpatient procedure. You will be instructed not to take any aspirin at least a week before treatment.  If you are on Coumadin or other blood thinning drugs you should discuss with your vein specialist when discontinuing the medications would be appropriate for you and your situation.

On the day of your endovenous closure treatment, your vein specialist will have you lie down on an exam table while your leg is cleansed and prepped for treatment. Your varicose vein in your thigh region will be distinguished from the knee to the groin. A local anesthetic is then injected beneath the skin, then, a tiny needle is inserted into the varicose vein. It is by way of this strategically placed needle that the VNUS Closure Fast electrode is placed and navigated up to the groin.

When the catheter is in the appropriate location, radiofrequency energy is targeted at the vein and the catheter is then taken out. The radiofrequency energy warms up your vein, forcing it to fold and eventually closing the vein itself.

After the Endovenous closure in New Jersey treatment, a bandage will be put over the treatment site, and supplementary compression is added in order for the area to stay clean. You will be instructed to walk and go back to your regular activities.
